Today's episode is a very important one,

and this is one that I've had many, many women ask me to do a show on it

because it is very timely and it's really a huge topic in

plastic surgery right now and the topic today is breast implant illness

do breast implants make people sick?

So let me just give you a little bit of history.

Silicon implants have been used for a very long time.

And back in the late 1980s, there were people that were concerned

that the liquid silicone implants back then were making

them sick or causing symptoms like autoimmune issues, you know, symptoms like fatigue,

muscle and joint pain, fevers, hair loss things like that so in 1992

the FDA put a moratorium on silicone breast implants they did not allow them to be used

anymore and they were only allowed to be used in an FDA approved study

So those studies went on for many many years and then in the year of 2006, really Thanksgiving of 2006, the FDA allowed the
