| 0:33.4 | the sheer number of grandparents who saw the book as a helpful resource in understanding |

| 0:41.1 | In fact, in a one month period before the COVID lockdowns, I spoke to about a thousand |
| 0:46.4 | grandparents on the content of the book. |
| 0:48.7 | And I heard so many stories during that same time. |
| 0:52.4 | And I talked to many grandparents who had effectively been |
| 0:55.6 | canceled out of their grandchildren's lives, sometimes by the grandchildren themselves, |
| 1:00.2 | other times by their own children, because of disagreements about theological, philosophical, |
| 1:06.2 | cultural, or moral issues. At the same time, there's a larger cultural narrative about grandparents, |
| 1:12.7 | that their main job is to move away and send checks for birthdays, graduations, and other |
| 1:18.9 | occasions. Several years ago, I got introduced to the concept of Christian grandparenting, |
| 1:25.1 | and in recent years have been connected with an organization called |
| 1:28.3 | the Legacy Coalition. The Legacy Coalition's mission is to help Christian grandparents recognize |
| 1:34.5 | the essential role that they play in the faith development of their grandchildren and to see being |
| 1:39.9 | a grandparent as a calling, a calling in helping raise the next generation to champion the faith in |
