course at the Colson Center this month. This is part of a special offering that we are doing

in conjunction with Dr. Truman's new book, Strange New World.

during the month of April and May,

along with a host of other resources.

We are excited to share this first resource with you,

a special presentation by Dr. Truman, along with a question

and answer time featuring Dr. Timothy Padgett. Here's Dr. Truman with this month's short course

opening. Watching may have read my larger book, The Rise and Triumph of the Modern South.

The origin of that book was really my desire to try to understand why the

phrase, a woman trapped in a man's body, had come to make sense to so many people in such an

apparently short period of time. Even as the Supreme Court was wrestling with the matter of gay marriage in 2015,

Bruce Jenner was announcing that he was a woman trapped in a man's body,

and he was transitioning to being Caitlin Jenner.

And what was interesting in that moment was that there wasn't a lot of pushback given to this idea.

And it struck me that here we have a situation,

a claim being made that is profoundly counterintuitive

and profoundly at odds with everything

that Western society has held to be fairly obvious
