Summary

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments from Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health, the most significant challenge to Roe v. Wade to date. The anticipation surrounding Dobbs, on both sides of the abortion issue, has been palpable. And, what happened at the Supreme Court on Wednesday did not disappoint.

Today, on a very special edition of the BreakPoint podcast, John talks with Dr. Ryan Anderson, President of the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) located in Washington, D.C. about the case, the oral arguments, and what the future could hold.  

Anderson is a legal scholar and public intellectual. In our conversation, Ryan described the highlights from Wednesday and clarified why this case is so significant.

We're going to talk about something that when both sides point to the same thing as being incredibly important,

We've had cases go to the Supreme Court that theoretically challenged Roe v. Wade or may have challenged Roe v. Wade,

maybe in a different kind of court. Pretty much both sides agree that yesterday's oral arguments

in a case called Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization is a very serious challenge to Roe v. Wade,

probably the biggest one in our lifetime. And so we've heard celebrations on one side, panic on the other side leading up to it and even after the oral arguments yesterday. I was in a meeting all day, which was okay. It was a good meeting. But I missed a lot of the oral arguments hopped on Twitter and the ever-reliable Ryan Anderson, president of the Ethics and Public Policy Commission in Washington, D.C.

had basically given a play-by-play that rivals the Manning Brothers' new coverage of the NFL.

Initial reaction, I thought yesterday was really good for the cause for life.

Scott Stewart, the Solicitor General of Mississippi, did a great job representing our interests
