from our Wilberforce weekend event earlier this month in May.

Dr. Guinness talks a little bit about the reality of the nation

and the Christian calling inside of our nations.

We meet tonight at a sober moment for the West and for America.

I said this afternoon that this is a civilizational moment.

By that is meant, as the historians put it,

that all the great civilizations reach a moment when they're out of touch with the inspiration that made them.

And there's a critical transition moment

when they either go towards renewal or down to decline.

The Western world was made by the Jewish and Christian faiths, but it has rejected the faiths that made it.

America, in the intellectual circles, has both rejected the faith that made it,

and also rejected the revolution that made it.

So if you look at the major questions facing the US today,

one of them is simply this.

Can the world's lead society, a superpower at the height of its power,

examine its history and its conscience, and make amends for what it knows has been

wrong, and do so in a way that truly satisfies the demands that are current.

That's what America is facing because quite seriously
