for 350 air strikes on unsaud Allah, better known as the Houthis within the last month.

These strikes have killed high-ranking commanders, destroyed weapon depots, and pushed the Houthis

to hide their arsenal deep in Yemen's rugged mountain terrain.

The result has been a sharp degradation of their capabilities.

And now, for the first time in years, there is the potential for a renewed start to the Yemeni

civil war. There are reports suggesting that 80,000 troops are amassing under the patronage

of the UAE in order to reinstall the government overthrown by the Houthis in 2014.

Their target, the western port city of Houdaida, a critical stronghold held by the Houthis, home to a million people and Yemen's lifeline to the seat.

Backed by drones and fighter jets, the exiled Yemeni government believes it can now defeat the Hothis in open battle.

And the stakes couldn't be higher.

For Yemen's civilian population, this could exacerbate an already terrible humanitarian

disaster in a decade already defined by bombing campaigns, starvation, and famine caused by naval

blockades.

But the consequences don't stop there.

This offensive is connected to the negotiations

between the Trump administration and Iran over its nuclear program. You see, this war in Yemen isn't

just about Yemen. So how did we get here? And what might happen next? Let's dive in.
