but analysts say that the U.S. has little leverage and Beijing is offering no clear agenda or

concession. Instead of this large-scale grand bargain, talks are likely to yield only modest steps

like extending existing trade truces and maintaining limited sector cooperation.

Experts say shifting geopolitical conditions have strengthened China's positions, making meaningful

breakthroughs unlikely. When President Trump campaigned in 2024, he promised a trade agenda

that would hit China harder than any other economic partner, expanding on actions he had taken

in his first term.
