Welcome to the Ralph Nader Radio Hour. My name is Steve Scrovan and I'm here with the

Man of the Hour Ralph Nader. Hello Ralph. How are you doing today?

Very good. We're doing a preview for the Super Bowl of Civic Leaders that's coming up

in Washington DC on 26, 27, 28, 29 September. So we're going to have some of the people who are

presenting these major issues and redirections for our society on the show today. So I'm very pleased.

That's right. That's right. Last May, Ralph hosted a conference with Civic Leaders,

Activist, Civil Justice Lawyers, Labor Leaders for four days of learning, planning, and organizing

for a better future. And it was called Breaking Through Power. And it was organized around 50th

anniversary of the publication of Ralph's seminal work, unsafe at any speed. And that was

the book that in my mind essentially launched the modern consumer movement. That conference went

so well in May. He's had another one and it will take place this coming Monday, September 26,

and will run through Thursday, September 29th in Washington, DC. The first two days at the

Carnegie Institute, which is on P Street, correct Ralph? Yes. And the second two days at Constitution

Hall, the one in Washington, DC, and at the one in Philadelphia. And it will feature over 70

And Ralph, just briefly, before we get to our first guest, tell us some of the topics that will

be covered. Well, there's so many that there's something for everybody that it's going to be

corporate crime. It'll be galvanizing energies for a transition to sustainable energy by the

leading expert, David Freeman. In the country, he's run four public utilities, among other
