Good morning, everyone, and happy Thursday morning. We have a lot of news to cover this morning. Republicans in Louisiana are pledging to cancel an ongoing election, primary election that is on May 16th in an effort to redistrict their state to gerrymander out the black majority districts, the two black majority districts currently in Louisiana.

It's an unprecedented move. Never before in modern history has a governor of a state canceled.

An election that has already begun, ballots have already been sent out, tried to redistrict the state.

It comes after the voting rights decision that the Supreme Court essentially gutted

the Voting Rights Act. At the same time, the president of the United States, Donald Trump,

is undermining his own DOJ's prosecution of James Comey, the former FBI director, and much more. A lot

of you have reached out over the past 24 hours saying you've noticed

This morning, according to the Washington Post, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry

has told Republican House candidates that he now plans to suspend next month's primary

elections so that state lawmakers can pass new congressional maps first.

Let's put this into perspective.

Louisiana has a primary election on May 16th to determine who the Republican and Democratic candidates

for the Federal House of Representatives will be.

At this point, today, the election is still happening, but it's going to be

suspended as soon as tomorrow. But here's the problem with that. It's not like this election is

just months away and nothing started. Absentee ballots have already gone out. Early voting begins this

week. The election has begun. People have already submitted ballots. Voting
