Summary

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have reversed the controversial decision to furlough the club's non-playing staff. It was announced on Saturday that around 200 of the club’s workers were to be placed on the scheme that would see the government pay 80% of their salaries. Liverpool pledged to supplement the additional 20% to ensure no staff members was adversely affected by the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19. But the decision to use the job retention scheme put in place by the Conservatives was criticised widely criticised by supporters and by former players like Jamie Carragher. And now FSG have opted to perform a U-turn on their decision while CEO Peter Moore has written an open letter to supporters in which he says the club is ‘truly sorry’. The Liverpool ECHO’s Paul Gorst joins Guy Clarke to react to this breaking news. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. I mean you've spoken about this particular soft back now since yesterday,

and I always like to reiterate the non-playing staff around about

200 non-playing staff were still going to be paid their 100% wages for this period where

they're essentially not working.
