when the going gets weird, the weird turned pro.

Thompson, who was usually loaded to the gills on LSD, cocaine, and a fifth of Shivis Riegel, was nonetheless a brilliant political writer.

If he were alive today to witness the Trump hush money trial, he would wholeheartedly agree that the

weird has left the building and we're on to something else entirely. The week of weirdness which saw the institution of the presidency

debased to the level of a law and order episode was punctuated by moments of Trump fast asleep in court, his head bobbing up and down like

your drunk uncle asleep on the sofa, followed by a parade of potential jurors discussing their disgust, admiration, or ambivalence

for the former disgraced president.

During jury selection, Trump, man usually surrounded by sycophants and Todys telling him how great he is,

has heard himself described by those under jury consideration as racist, sexist, and a narcissist.

He's been presented with social media posts

calling for officials to quote unquote lock him up.

He's been told to his face that he's quote very selfish and self-serving unquote

good morning bill man is he angry the former president arrived here just 20 minutes ago,

really lashing out repeatedly at the gag order that has been imposed on him

by Judge Juan Mershaun.

And through it all, Trump has been required to remain seated, not gesturing, not talking, and not using his phone.

He was unable to insult anyone, mock their handicaps, or even make up degrading nicknames about the jurors.

He has not even been allowed to adjust the temperature a few degrees in a courtroom he described
