This is very, very important that we understand now is a time to stay vigilant, to seek the truth, to try, as I've said before, stay frosty, try to stay calm, try to respond with thoughtfulness.

Don't fight fire with fire. We must remain peaceful. We must remain united. We must remain on the right side of the law and the right side of history.

I'm actually in a stairwell at a school after my kids' basketball game because there is obviously breaking news that we've got to address.

By now you've heard there's been another terrible, awful shooting in Minneapolis.

ICE has shot and killed a 37-year-old American.

The video is circulating and here's what I think you need to know and what I think

you need to think about. We will continue to see videos over the next couple of hours. But the most

important thing I think is that this is a cauldron of toxicity, of friction, of heat, of violence

that is continuing to escalate. And just like the tragic murder and preventable murder of Renee Good, this latest shooting is preventable and predictable.

What continues to happen is more and more ice agents are flooding into Minneapolis in particular.

More and more protesters are flooding into there.

Now ice protesters and ice agents are flooding into there. Now, ice protesters

and ICE agents are going into Portland, Maine. And you've got a lot of people clashing.

And here's the problem. Whether this guy had a legal firearm carry permit or not,

Americans can carry guns all across this country. We have created a situation where Americans can legally carry guns.

I caught a quick glimpse of the video.

It looked again excessive.

It looked unnecessary.

It looked like they had him under control.

And as many as nine shots were firing into this man.
