What this basically is is admitting they couldn't get the deal done by the first deadline.

tell us about the tariffs impact on retailers and consumers. I think this amount of conspicuous

consumption when consumers already skittish tries to tap into a fomo. Like if you don't get it now,

you're going to have to deal with price hikes afterwards or deal with this great

uncertainty of this kind of tariffs and BBB and recessionary land. And I don't know how

that adds up in terms of you finally consummating the purchase on checkout. But first,

what better way to understand what this ever-shifting tariff landscape means for American businesses

than to talk to someone who runs one. Katie Wagner is supply chain director at Crystal Group

in Hiawatha, Iowa, that's a suburb of Cedar Rapids. They make computer hardware for customers

in the defense industry, and they get some of their components from Asia, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia,

among other countries. So they're one of many companies wondering what it means now that President

Trump has sent letters threatening high import taxes next month. Trump previously set the deadline

for trade deals to this week, but moved the date to August 1st.
