Hello there I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast so we've got a little more than

six weeks to go before the midterm races are crystallizing before our eyes this week

we released the latest NBC News Bowl and showed how Democrats have caught up to Republican

with the generic congressional preference now tied at 4646 and what's fascinating is

that basically both parties are running successful campaigns and they're winning them. Democrats

are running on abortion rights and democracy, climate change and among those issues they're

winning. Republicans are running on the economy, cost of living, immigration, crime, they're

winning their issues. Question is what are voters voting on? So my guests today are Mark

Murray, senior political editor here at NBC News and Jessica Taylor, the Senate and

governor editor for the Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, Mark and Jessica. Welcome

back to the Todd cast so look I'm I want to start big picture here for a minute and let

everybody sort of take one whack at it and then I want to go I want to go through our

Senate races specifically through the prism of these issues. So Jessica I'm going to give

you we got two NBC ears ganging up here I want to hear from you first. So I'm going to

see you for a while. Exactly. You're your your your NBC adjacent for sure both historically

and currently but what's moved? What's the state of the midterms right now and you're

in through your eyes? Well the main problem we saw with the approval

rings for Democrats was just an enthusiasm got the Republicans had their voters enthused

and what seems to have moved over the summer and that has been predicated by the DOBS

decision on an abortion and then I think and better economic numbers for the Biden administration

passing the inflation reduction act just getting things through Congress where they look

effective that is brought Democrats back into the fold and so we are seeing just such
