Summary

GSfMO#389 June 18, 2013- John Grund, PGA says that you CAN become a better putter, it’s a learnable behavior! John sticks around for another hour of our conversation on Vector Putting. Of course you realize that every scorecard automatically gives you 2 putts for each hole. Even if you don’t drive the ball 300 yards, if you can read greens better and achieve multiple 1-putts per round, breaking 80 will regularly follow. John’s theory of STAG putting is covered in detail. S=speed  T=Two feet & straight  A=Aim  G=Green Reading. This Members Only episode recaps and embellishes on “S”, then goes into depth with the final three elements. John closes with the 3 simple things that it takes to be a better golfer.Visit tourstriker.com/TSGA and use the code GOLFSMARTER to get your first month of the Tour Striker GolfAcademy Online free, plus instant access to two bonus courses—'The Recipe for Better Golf' and 'Bombs: How to Consistently Smash the Driver”: a $194 value for free. This episode is brought to you by PXG. But now we're getting into the green reading, which is an important factor, because in the

0:35.0

green reading, again, we're talking about three major areas.

0:37.1

What's the speed of my put and what's the slope of my put am I efficiently aiming am I efficiently making a ball to roll

0:43.0

end over end two feet straight two feet and straights and my efficiently aiming now how do I read the green

0:48.2

so how do I read the green is as I decide what the speed of this green is slow medium or fast, or fast, or super fast, we assume that all greens are two degrees of slope, which, quite frankly, is probably true, on an average. Two degrees, around the hole? Because I know when you have multi-level greens. Right. I'm looking at the hole. I'm standing around the cup, because keep in mind, the last five feet in my putt are the most important aspects. As the ball slows down,

1:11.4

that's when gravity has its bigger effect. So when I got a 30-foot put, the first 15 or 20 feet of that

1:16.4

are important, but not as a massively important to the slope. The most important area is that

1:20.7

sloping area around the hole.

All right, I want to pick it right back up where we were. We were on stag. Right. And to redefine stag, it's kind of your method of teaching? Yeah, yeah. It's a methodology that I think that are four principal areas that good putters are always involved in. Okay, us being speed. Speed. T is... Two feet and straight. Two feet and straight. aim for A and G a and g is green reading that's correct all right so let's talk about do we do we fully finish one one thing i need to add about

2:08.1

the speed speed is important in that uh based on the the new technologies of green reading which

2:13.4

vector and and aim point involved which is you know, how a ball travels over distance

2:20.5

in time and friction and slope and all those things that are involved, which are derived

2:27.8

from mathematical equations to help you read puts. Okay? Now, it sounds very complicated,
