Welcome to Breaking Down Patriarchy. I'm Amy McPhee All the Best. This week began with the 4th of July,

0:07.5

a holiday when Americans celebrate our freedoms from tyranny and oppression. And yet, only a few

0:13.9

days prior, millions of women felt the distress of having an essential freedom to exercise autonomy

0:20.4

over their own reproduction

0:21.9

stripped away. The recent overturning of Roe v. Wade threatens the bodily autonomy and

0:28.1

well-being of women all across the country. As of the time of this recording, eight states have

1:23.7

the lines of a phone bank or face-to-face in the streets. Later in the episode, we'll be

1:29.9

joined by musician and storyteller Dellen Rule for their reflections on a day of chaotic

1:35.1

protests, counter-protests, and clowns. But first, we're going to hear from Teresa Beauchamp,

1:41.4

who shares a story which may feel familiar to some listeners, waking up in

1:46.3

November of 2016 to the shocking news of Donald Trump's election and wondering what we could

1:52.6

possibly do.

1:54.1

Thankfully, Teresa wasted little time before leaping into the fight to defend reproductive rights,
