As promised, Hurricane Ian picked up and tossed huge swaths of Florida and South Carolina

this week, bringing floods, power outages and basic devastation everywhere it landed.

Over the course of several surreal days, we saw whole communities crushed by a deadly

combination of tropical winds, torrential rains, and heavy surf.

The moment the storm receded, rescue operations began, recovery crews moved in and worked

around the clock to show up survivors and identify victims.

Biden has bent over backward to help the beleaguered state of Florida, declaring a state of emergency

in some counties and distributing federal funds meant to help people immediately.
