So I was trained as a Christian therapist. I've been embarrassed almost to say this.

Back in the 90s, that just sounds like a long time ago now. It was beautiful.

I was just so grateful for my grad school training in that and for the opportunity to get

into people's lives and get into people's stories. And one of the things that became more

and more, I don't know, profoundly true to me, was this passage in Psalm 51 where David says,

behold, you desire, you God, desire truth in the inmost being. And in the hidden part,

you will make me know wisdom. And what's fascinating is the Hebrew for the inmost place

actually means the shut or the locked place. Wow. And I'm like, yep, that's it.

That's it. Like these things get in. They get in. We learn.

I remember Zeus Lewis's line, life is a brutal teacher, but you learn.

And the problem is, what do you learn? Right? What has gotten into the shut place?

These things get into us and it becomes locked inside us and my work as a young therapist

and then on through all of what we've done or writing and everything has been to help unlock those places.

Yeah. Yeah. Don't that reminds me of John eight?

Where it says, if you continue in my word, then you are truly disciples of mine.

And you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.
