saw the 49ers hired a defensive coordinator and wanted to jump in here and do a little live.

So I'm keeping an eye on this real quick. For those of you watching this not live, I'm just checking to make sure that, yeah, audio works.

Adam Schefter reporting it. This would have probably been like just after 4 a.m.

Pacific time I think. I saw it at just after 5 a.m. Mountain time I've got a college basketball game in Salt Lake City night, Utah,

Cal 7 p.m. Pacific, or 6 p.m. Pacific. But here it is. Niners didn't just hire a defensive

coordinator.

I saw the news and I started trying to figure out how I felt about it.

The Niners hired Nick Sorensen as their defensive coordinator, and then hired Brandon Staley for what at the time, Shefter called a prominent staff role.

The expectation is that he will be the assistant head coach this year for the Niners

replacing Anthony Lynn who left to go work on the Washington commander staff and Nick Wagoner has since also reported at

the E.S.b.com that the expectation is that Brandon Sali will be the assistant head

coach. So the Niners obviously like something out of his out of his interview. I know it I think that in a weird way

Sorensen is going to get overshadowed today because Staley is such a hot button name and such a hot button

guy. This is a guy that just got fired, right? At the end of a disaster season and the end of a

disaster's tenure, he gave up 63 points to the Las Vegas Raiders

and not fired afterwards.

I don't know if there's a worse way to go out than giving up 63
