He achieved that through the US Naval Academy where he was a member of the men’s heavyweight rowing team. Commissioned as a cryptologic warfare officer, Brandon was sent to MIT for a graduate degree where he experienced the exact opposite of the Naval Academy’s highly structured life. Brandon’s later work with both NSA and US Cyber Command helped him gain experience and cyber operations skills. As he transitions from active duty to civilian life, Brandon shares his personal challenges and struggles during that process. 1:02.8	I am a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, and currently the Skillbridge Fellow at the Cyberwire.
1:16.2	Okay. the Skillbridge Fellow at the Sabroir. From a young age, knew I wanted to join the military.
1:21.1	I remember my first thought of joining the military on 9-11.
1:26.7	Being from New Jersey, the events of that day hit my community pretty hard.
1:31.8	I had a classmate whose father was killed in one of the towers.
1:36.6	And I remember Turner my dad that night and saying, we have to do something.
1:40.3	And what I'm going to do is I'm going to join the military.
1:45.0	My grandfather served in World War II.
1:47.2	He was an Army infantry officer in the South Pacific,
1:51.0	and he spent the entire war doing the island hopping campaign under MacArthur.
1:56.8	Growing up, I was his only grandson, and I got a lot of the war stories.
