And it was probably the biggest surprise of the five and I wanted to talk to him and have us all get to know him a little bit better about him in his book.

So were you the most surprised person? I mean you were surprised right that you got this pick?

Yes. Yeah but you weren't it wasn't out of left field if I've got the story right you submitted the book yourself for the honor is that correct?

Okay tell me the story.

Yeah so I sent it to the National Book Foundation.

I guess it was for entry to the National Book Foundation. I guess it was for entry to the National Book Awards.

Right.

And, you know, really the impetus for that was because I had a couple of extra copies lying around and I didn't know what to do with it.

So I figured I'd send it.

So I wasn't aware that by getting it to them that I would qualify for the 535.

That was not something that was in my radar at all.
