Summary

Was it that long ago when churches were the center of American community life? Yet today the local officials can and do deem them "non-essential." And the governor of a major state can go out of his way to proclaim that God has nothing to do with stemming the spread of the coronavirus. Worse yet,  do Christians buy into the idea that churches are non-essential.

Also on today's program: separating true and false during the pandemic; China doubles down on its savage persecution of Christians; when will we open up the economy--and when will the finger pointing begin?

They wrap up the show with recommended viewing for families stuck at home: "The Chosen" and "Jump Shot."

And John, I think

0:21.0

we're striving to be much more than an all-coronavirus all the time show here.

0:26.0

Well, if we did that, we'd be way better than every other news outlet. I mean, you scan the

0:30.3

headlines. And it's understandable. That's not a bad thing. I'm kind of excited that we at least

0:36.2

had a break from, you know, 12 straight months

0:39.6

of the political campaign. So, you know, there's a bright side to this whole thing. I was going to

0:44.2

say, once we get back to the normal news cycle, there's nothing in the rest of 2020 that's

0:48.3

going to possibly dominate all the headlines. Oh, man. Yeah. And now we, you know, Joe Biden's the frontrunner and we're going to have some very

0:57.2

interesting things.

0:57.9

I think I speak for all of Americans when I say, you know, please let's not suspend

1:02.1

debates, you know, and live the coronavirus because it's going to be must see TV watching.

1:07.3

And plus it's going to feed our comedy sketch shows.

1:10.1

You know, just a steady, steady stream of material.

1:13.9

But let's not jump off on that.

1:16.7

Although I will say I do share some real concerns that what's going to happen on the

1:20.9

Democratic side because Joe Biden doesn't seem well.

1:25.1

He just doesn't.

1:26.1

You know, I'm speaking, you know, we're all doing it from our home, so none of us are looking as good as we're made up to be. But there's some real interviews where it just seems like all the synapses just kind of aren't connecting or firing. And it just, it's, yeah, it's really something. Yeah. And I don't think either of our feelings toward this or approximate ridicule.

1:45.8

I genuinely feel sorry for the guy.

1:47.6

It doesn't seem like he should be running a presidential campaign.
