Summary

John Stonestreet and Shane Morris remind us that  the pain and suffering inflicted by the coronavirus--including being separated from our brothers and sisters in Christ during Easter--are not the way things are supposed to be.  But even that realization reminds us how much God has given us in the Church and in His Son, whose passion and resurrection we remember this week.

Also on today's program: China bans even online worship; John Lennox's outstanding new book "Where Is God in a Cronavirus World?" and Queen Elizabeth's remarkable address to the people of the United Kingdom.

Welcome to another edition of Breakpoint this week. I'm Shane Morris here with John Stone Street to talk about the top stories of the week from a Christian worldview perspective.

And John, I don't think we've ever had so many stories in one week to cover about things

0:23.6

that have happened or are happening over screens, whether it's, you know, Queen Elizabeth's

0:28.6

speech to the UK earlier this week, or Bernie Sanders announcing the end of his presidential

0:33.6

campaign over video to his staff or even preparing for Easter services this Sunday

0:38.9

over video with our churches.

I feel like we're just turning into the people from Wally.

0:42.6

You know, we're just captive to screens and we barely ever talk to other people or look

0:46.3

at each other.

0:47.4

Well, yeah, and you didn't even mention Tiger King, which is, you know, apparently other than

0:51.3

the coronavirus is the talk of the nation also happening on screens,

0:55.4

which says a lot about any hope that we had for the future of humanity is maybe you should be

1:00.2

a little bit more moderate than it was before, since this is the number one thing that people

1:05.1

are watching and tweeting about. No, let's start with what really matters, and that is the thing

1:09.9

that we can be thankful for at the same time that hurts, and that is not being together as churches, as bodies of believers.

1:17.6

You know, God hasn't pulled out of the world for himself individual Christians through Christ.

1:22.1

He's pulled out a bride for his son, and that is the church.

1:26.4

And so there's just no such thing. You know, I hesitate to, you know,

1:30.5

riff a little bit on Hillary Clinton's famous line that it takes a village, you know, to raise a

1:35.5

child, but it takes a church to raise a Christian. We don't do it by ourselves. It does. Yeah, it does.

1:40.1

And this is the way it's supposed to be. And it's sad. And people feel it. And we talked about that this week, you and I did on a breakpoint commentary, that, you know,
