Before we get on, tell us a bit about yourself, about your background and your history.

Okay, well, I was raised a farm kid, milk and dairy cows in Indiana, southern Indiana,

and I got a scholarship to go to Franklin College in Indiana.

I got my bachelor's degree there, and then the US Army decided at that time in 1964 to send

me on a two-year vacation, not a very pleasant place, and I don't like talking about it very

much.

But when I got out of that, I did my master's degree at the University of Idaho, because

I wanted to go someplace quiet, and where there wasn't much politics going on.

And so I got my master's there, I did my PhD at Washington State, and then I did a two-year

postdoctoral stint at Yale University College of Pharmacy.
