We had big plans for yesterday, lots of things on the agenda, but your entire day was spent nursing a woodpecker back to health.

Yeah, well, yeah.

He flew into our window.

It was terrible. It was terrible and as soon as you hear it, you know exactly what that sound is.

You know what the thunk of a bird hitting a window is.

We have these big windows in the front of our house and this has happened a couple of different times.

All of them ending tragically, but in this case, and I think it was because it was a woodpecker and they have stronger heads.

You put them in a shoe box and nursed him back to health.

Yeah, he did really well and then he, you know, he scooted out of the box and you can actually follow the journey of the woodpecker on our Twitter page.

I did document it, but eventually he made his way to a tree and all was well.

And then you had quite the experience later in the day.

I did. I was sitting out on the deck and this woodpecker. Now granted, they all look very similar, but a woodpecker that looked just like the one that you nursed back to health, flew up landed on the railing of the balcony and just sat there three feet away from me, looking me right in the eye and tweeting just like that.
