We've been going through the book of Acts in a little bit different way than usual.

Usually, when you look at the book of Acts, you are looking at the lives of men who are dedicated to God,

and you are looking at essentially their battle to establish the church in the first century.

However, what we've been doing is looking at the church in the first century. However, what we've been doing

is looking at the operation of the Holy Spirit as he appears in the book of Acts. Because when

you really stop and look at the book, that's what it's all about. It's about the functioning

and the work of the Holy Spirit. Now, we left off at Acts 20, verse 12,

the episode where Eutychus fell from the third-story loft and died,

and Paul raised him up from the dead.

We remarked at the time that this is not normative,

that it is not normative to go around raising people from the dead in our era.

But I want to quickly add that the functioning of the Holy Spirit is the same now as it was

when Paul was alive.

And it's just as powerful.

I am a dispensationalist, which means that I believe in the dispensation of the church.

It began at Pentecost.

It will end at the rapture.

To me, that seems very simple, straightforward. To a lot of people, that's almost heresy.
