Let's talk bouncebacks for 2023 next on fantasy football today in 5.

Welcome to FFP and 5. I'm Chris Towers. I'm here with Dan Schiier.

And we're talking about bounce backs for the upcoming season.

And look, the idea is pretty simple. It's really easy to overreact to the most recent fantasy football season.

People who skipped on Christian McCaffrey learned that lesson the hard way last year.

At bouncebacks, obviously Christian McCaffrey bounced back from a lot of injuries over the previous two seasons.

But it can go a couple of different ways and go performance related, obviously.

You can go injury related. And I think Justin Herbert kind of falls under both categories last season. Because you remember those first two games of the year, he averaged 29,

or he had 29 fantasy points in each of those two games. Obviously, he suffered the rib injury

during that Chiefs game, ended up playing through it.

And it really affected his performance.

I think the offense in San Diego, or Los Angeles, excuse me,

wasn't as good as we hoped it would be across the board.

But his first two seasons in the NFL,

26 fantasy points per game in each of those two,

one of the arguably the best first two seasons of a quarterback's career we've ever seen,

fell to 19 points per game last season.

I love the addition of Kellan Moore as the offensive coordinator for the Chargers.

I think he's got a ton of weapons.

I think that offense is going to take a big step forward.

I think Justin Herbert belongs in probably like the second tier of quarterbacks. But the way I'm looking at it is like you could pay up for Joe Burrow or you could just wait a couple rounds and get Justin Herbert. And I think their production is going to be very, very similar. So that's the way I'm looking at Justin Herbert. Where are you some bounceback candidates for you, Dan? First of all, I'm so with you on Justin Herbert.

I just want to throw this in there. One thing that people don't really talk about a lot with Herbert is the fact that Rishan Slater, his left tackle, who was injured all last season, basically, the year before in his rookie year, that might have been the best rookie season I've ever seen from an offensive tackle. and that doesn't mean he's going to be the best of all time or anything like that.
