Summary

On this episode, we drink ale & talk about the OTHER Queen-B. Boudica! The woman scorned who almost took down the Roman army.  The truth is that we may never be 100% sure what part of Boudica's story is legend and which part is fact. But regardless, her story has been an inspiration for thousands ever since the interest in her grew during the Victorian period. Queen Boudica lived during the time when the Romans occupied the Brittania (aka, modern-day Brittian) and was leader of the Iceni tribe. When Nero's dudes decided they didn't like a woman being in charge of a major clan, they did some pretty messed up stuff to Bouidca and her daughters. She and her people decided they had enough of Rome and nearly drove them out of their lands. Some even believe that evidence of her scorched earth (literally) tactics remains today in parts of England today. (You can read more about that here). While largely forgotten to history, queen Victoria took a shine to her and she came to be the legend that we know of today.
