In October 1773, seven ships departed from England, carrying nearly £600,000

pounds of the East India Company's tea

that was destined for the American colonies. Following the Tea Act, which had been passed by the

Parliament of Great Britain earlier that year, the tea would only be sold to the East India

Company's own agents in the colonies in an attempt to monopolise

the tea market. As these ships made their way across the Atlantic, a storm was brewing, one
