Today's tip is to borrow before you buy.

It is the human condition to have less money and less space than we probably want.

So most of us would prefer to buy and own only those things that we are actually going to use.

Unfortunately, it can be hard to anticipate what those items will be.

I got less use out of the high-end stroller I bought from my now 14-year-old

than I got out of the $20 umbrella stroller I bought for a trip once and then wound up using

for several more children. This is true even though the fancy stroller's reviews were great.

Inevitably, it is hard to anticipate what items we will actually use and enjoy

if we don't own them already.

And the trial and error it takes to find the right items can introduce a lot of expense

and clutter into our lives.
