Hey everybody welcome back to another bald movie podcast this time we are looking at the Oliver Stone

1989 film Born on the 4th of July it's based on the book of a same title written by Ron Kovic which is about his life story

growing up in small town America going over to Vietnam as an ardent support of the war

coming back and becoming part of the anti-war protest movement.

Oliver Stone and Ron Kovic worked together on a screenplay.

Oliver Stone, of course, also a Vietnam veteran of some distinction.

It stars Tom Cruz.

I think everybody knows who Tom Cruz is as Ron Kovic.

Kira Sedgwick, who you might remember as the terrible mom from Secondhand Lions and the

shitty John Travolta movie phenomenon.

She's also starred for many years on TNT's The Closer, Raymond J. Berry, who I did not recognize as Arlo Givens, the father of

one Rayland Givens from Justified, which I quite enjoyed.

Frank Whaley, which you might most know him as Brett

with the big brain from Pulp Fiction.

which was his first nomination, and it won for Best Director, Oliver Stone's second.
