Things are getting heated in this episode.

The last couple of weeks have seen wildfires in the Arctic, a heat wave in the UK,

and a bonfire of environmental protections in Brazil. Plus, as Amy and I prepare

to take a short summer break, we'll give our predictions about what environmental politics and

policy we might be covering when we return to the podcast in September. But first, the UK has a new

Prime Minister and a drastically altered cabinet.

Does our new PM Boris Johnson have any space on his desk for the environment?

The Greenpeace protesters blocking his car on the way to Buckingham Palace,

with a huge banner saying, climate emergency, seemed to think otherwise.

Yes, last week there was the handover of power from Theresa May to Boris Johnson,

who won the Conservative Party leadership contest. He then went off to Buckingham Palace,

where he was duly, what is it, invited by the Queen to form a government. And he did that

by throwing a lot of people out of the cabinet and bringing a lot of different people in,

notably lots of the vote leave campaigners from the EU referendum a few years ago.

The main agenda of this new government is going to be dominated by Brexit,

and it seems Johnson has asked everyone who serves in his cabinet and in his government
