Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham right here on Talk

Radio as we reached the end of yet another week and edge ever closer to the point at which

absolutely nothing happens in the world of politics.

Although there was a bit of a surprise yesterday

when Boris Johnson suddenly broke cover and accidentally revealed

that he wants to be Prime Minister.

Everybody seems to be getting the knickers in a twist about this story.

However, I don't think it comes as any great surprise to anybody in the Tory Party

that Boris Johnson, the former Foreign Secretary,

you know, the former Mayor of London, wants to have the top job in Downey Street.

Theresa May of course pledge that she would deliver a timetable for leaving, not the European Union, you understand, but number 10, Downey Street itself.

Apparently, we might be shot of her before the end of June.

So there is some reason to rejoice, but can the Conservative Party actually run this country any more?

Can they honestly patch their party up and deliver Brexit in any form?

If you look at the state of the polls at the moment, ahead of the European elections

that happened next Thursday, I'd have to say I've got some serious doubts about whether they can
