So Alice, we made it. What an incredible series exploring the rise, fall and very nearly rise again of Boris Johnson.

Yeah, there was a moment there where I wasn't actually quite sure how long the series might be.

And whether we ever need to do a future series, who knows what the future holds, but for now we breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Just thinking about the story, what really struck you about Boris the person?

Well, firstly, so strange to be telling and reflecting on a story now given it's so recent.

I mean, some of the stuff we were talking about was three months ago, but it was so interesting to learn about his early life and how formative those experiences with his father were an improved

privilege spaces like Oxford and Eton. A lot of that. I just didn't know the details of.

Yes, and it's amazing to see all those personality traits that we saw in his adulthood in his prime minister, all present very early in his life, lying, cheating and charming.

Yes, and of course we've all seen this cartoon of Boris Johnson so many times before, but to get a 3D picture of the man, to get that detail has been really incredible.

Yes, because he has been for such a long period, a mythical figure and the only real way of looking at the man behind the myth is to speak to someone who knows him and that's what we've got for you today.

Sonja Pernel is a writer and journalist who spent a year working as Johnson's closest colleague in Brussels.

In 2011, she wrote the biography Just Boris, a tale of blonde ambition, which was her attempt to, as she puts it, unpick the man from the artfully created myth. She joins us next.
