It's a bit of a turn-up for the books, isn't it?

It was the return of Prime Minister's questions today, and the big question had been,

will the Prime Minister actually return?

Turns out,

he's got a pretty good excuse for not turning up because he's just become a new father. A spokesman for the Prime Minister and his partner said both mother and baby are doing very well after the

birth in a London hospital on Wednesday morning. The spokeswoman said the Prime Minister and Ms. Simmons

are thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning. Both mother and baby are doing very well. The PM and

Ms Simmons would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team. Well, funnily enough, we were going to

talk about Boris Johnson this morning anyway because he did return to work on Monday. He did make

a statement outside of Downing Street. He wasn't going to be

doing Prime Minister's questions today, clearly because of the news that the baby might have

been coming at any moment, and he might not have to run out of the chamber on the basis that

he got the call, where we have all been, or some of us have, anyway, I certainly have been there

four times, but what a delightful thing for him to have to be able to celebrate today.
