So that was April then.

How was it for you? Cooped up in a small flat on your own, jogging your way through the streets of your hometown, working all the hours that Goggs sent in the front line of a hospital,

driving a lorry around Britain delivering essential supplies, or dealing with hundreds of idiotic

panic-buying shoppers who won't safe distance themselves from you in a supermarket. This month has been different

for everyone. For some, it is lockdown-tastic as they enjoyed their pets, their children and their

garden. For Boris Johnson, it was a matter of life or death. Others saw their savings dwindle to nothing

as they waited for some kind of compensation to come from the government. And for those who are still

able to work, it was a strange experience of light and shade,

of madness and calm, of social extremes.

One thing is for sure there is no one in this country

who thinks the month of May should be anything like April.

Only yesterday I drove past a KFC outlet

opened for the first time to a gaggle of moped delivery riders.

I heard from friends who told me their hairdressers in London

were taking appointments once more,

and even the Prime Minister promised a plan would be revealed next week

for the opening up of the economy.

And yet, we've got an exclusive poll at Talk Radio here today

revealing that 84% of people surveyed

say they would feel unsafe visiting a restaurant or a pub
