It has been 6 months since my brief and unusual posting aboard the USS righteous.

6 months since the Borg were destroyed by the Starfleet forces at Earth.

3 times now the Borg have tried to attack the Federation and 3 times they've been defeated.

I hope they've learned their lesson, assuming there are any of them left alive to learn.

Admiral Talati has requested a description of my experience as aboard the righteous during the hours leading up to the actual battle.

I'm not sure I want to examine it all that closely.

I guess I'm afraid if I think about it too much, about how absurd and unbelievable it all was, it will turn out not to have been real at all.

It began 6 months ago.

I and 4 of my fellow classmates, all second-year cadets, have been given the opportunity to serve aboard the Federation Starship Cheyenne for 3 months.

It was the most exciting time in our lives.
