It is Monday, February 5th, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, war erupts in Senate Republican Conference over national security supplemental.

Let's get into it.

So if you're listening to this, I'd have to imagine that you are aware that the Senate has released

its bipartisan border security and foreign aid package. It's $118 billion, and it is, does a couple

things. Number one, it is their border bill. It is their border and immigration bill.

And number two, it includes a lot of money for Ukraine,

Israel, and Taiwan. The bill costs $118 billion, which is actually not that much for congressional legislation. And it does amount to a dramatic rewrite of some portions of U.S. immigration law,

including slashing the number of migrants eligible for asylum

and altering how those claims get processed. The bill provides $60 billion for Ukraine.

And there are billions of dollars for Israel, the Indo-Pacific region, and ongoing operations, U.S. operations in the Middle East.

But what's notable, and this is we are about 12 hours after the release of the legislation,
