Welcome to the Sports Motivation podcast. This is your host, Nicky Shobo. Today is books and bars, and I'm going to be breaking down a book.

0:07.5

All right. So in books and bars, I basically break down either excerpts from not necessarily my favorite books, but books I'm reading, books I'm exploring.

0:17.2

Because I am someone who doesn't just read books that I really enjoy. I actually don't always

0:22.6

enjoy reading. Sometimes reading sucks. Sometimes the book is boring, but guess what? It contains

0:27.6

information that is very valuable to me in the context of accomplishing something that I want.

0:33.6

So I do it anyway, much like working out. Sometimes lifting weight sucks. Sometimes

0:38.2

squat day sucks. Sometimes it's fun. Sometimes I don't feel like it. Sometimes I don't feel like

0:43.0

running. Sometimes I don't feel like stretching, but it's important. So today, I'm breaking down a book.

0:50.3

And I am someone from the school of thought. Before I break down this book, I want to explain why I'm even reading this book. So I'm someone from the school of thought like this. So, for example, if you come in my office, you'll see a big-ass picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger, right? No, I'm not like an Arnold Schwarzenegger fan or like, you know, I just love his movies. I mean, he has some

1:11.0

cool movies, I guess, but what Arnold Schwarzenegger represents is an extreme version of something

1:17.0

that I want, right? So the picture that you'll see is he's glaring at you and he's just

1:22.8

shredded up. I mean, the dude is just swore. Now, obviously I want to be some, or not necessarily

1:29.4

obviously, but I want to be some version of him in terms of swall. I don't want to be that big,

1:35.1

but I desire to be, you know, lean, trim, muscular, fit, all of those things that he is, right?

1:42.9

But also he represents extreme results in other

1:45.4

areas as well. Super, super successful. Has reached Demner, every goal he set for himself and is very

1:52.8

much an extreme version of success in that way as well. You'll also see other pictures. You'll see

1:58.3

Kobe Bryant. You'll see Tupac. You'll see Kobe Bryant. You'll see Tupac.

2:01.4

You'll see Dane Dash, Frederick Douglass.

2:06.2

Now, I'll bring this up because if you have a goal you want to accomplish or a problem you want to overcome, it's far more effective to find people who have just crushed that goal or who have overcome way worse problems.

2:22.5

Instead of, if you're trying to earn money, instead of going to the guy who's earned,

2:26.2

who earns a little bit more than you, why not go to someone who earns 50 times more than you?
