Hi, everyone and welcome to Bad on Paper podcast. I'm Olivia Mentor.

0:22.2

And I'm Becca Freeman.

0:23.6

And today we're talking all about book-to-screen adaptations, which is something I'm always interested in and something I know you are passionate about.

0:32.2

I am passionate about it. We'll have to discuss. I don't know if we're having more adaptations than usual, but it feels like

0:39.4

we are in a golden age of book adaptations this year. So many big ones. So many big ones. Yes. So many.

0:47.3

Okay. But before we get to that, what is your high? My high is that I had my entire family come to visit.

0:55.5

My mom, my dad, my brother,

1:02.3

they were all here. And it was Mother's Day. So I feel like we drove all over, I don't know,

1:07.4

all over the surrounding area of the Hudson Valley and beyond the Berkshires. We had so much fun doing little day trips. We went out to nice dinners. We went to this hot dog

1:12.8

stand in Holyoke, Massachusetts called Nick's Nest, which is where my grandfather grew up. And

1:20.5

1:26.6

He was born in 1918, so there's some

1:29.1

easy math someone can do. But he talked about Nick's Nest going there as a kid and as a teenager.

1:36.8

And when my dad told him it was still in business, he was amazed. So it's not that far from where I

1:41.6

live. It's like an hour or so. And so we all went there. And it was really

1:45.0

cool. But yeah, we had lots of little adventures like that. And so it was just a nice, a nice weekend of everyone hanging out together. So it was a lot of fun. Are you a big hot dog enthusiast? Because I remember the story about you stopping for a hot dog on the way back from Maine, too.

2:00.7

Oh, that also made a high.

2:02.4

You know what's funny?

2:03.4

In the book I'm reading right now,

2:04.8

which it's called Maine by Jay Courtney Sullivan, flows is mentioned. I love that. What a niche

2:11.8

landmark that you know. And I was reading Vacation Land by Meg Mitchell Moore, which is also a main book.

2:18.4

And they mentioned my favorite lobster roll shack McClun's in South Thomas did.
