Tonight we're going to talk about the war chapters in the book of Mormon.

Now, anybody who's familiar with the book of Mormon, you mentioned the war chapters.

They pretty much know what you're talking about.

This is the last third of the book of Alma.

It's around 20 chapters.

And even though the Book of Mormon has warfare and violence pretty much throughout from beginning to end,

this segment of the Book of Mormon is all war all the time.

So these 20 chapters at the end of Alma frequently called the war chapters.

Now, apologists have looked at the war chapters as a way to try and prove the book of Mormon is true and really happened.

On the other hand, after we review it tonight, I think we're going to find out that in a lot of

ways, the war chapters are nails in the coffin of the book of Mormon as an ancient historical text.

the last third of the book of Alma. Now, this is an old version of the book of Mormon by old.

I mean, around the time that I was getting baptized in the late 1970s, they had a limited run of paperback

copies of the book of Mormon that were bound in gold foil and had kind of the characters from what was

thought to be the Charles Antone document on the cover. So the book itself is supposed to resemble

the plates from which the Book of Mormon was taken. All I remember is that my friend Bruce, the one

who baptized me, my best friend in high school,

he gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon.
