My guest today is my colleague here at the Maxwell Institute, Christian Heel. His office is just right down the hallway, but we're still recording this remotely.

Christian is a senior research fellow here at the Maxwell Institute. His research focuses on how

early Christians read the scriptures. And for longtime listeners of the podcast, you will recognize

his sonorous voice.

Today we are going to be addressing some of the scholarship on the book of Jacob.

I was talking to my research assistant the other day, and I was telling her a little bit about the podcast

and telling her that we were doing an episode on every book in the Book of Mormon that tried to hit some of the notable pieces of scholarship

written about that book. And her eyes got big and she said, I had no idea there was that much

scholarship about the Book of Mormon out there. And I think that her reaction is probably similar

to many of our listeners. Is there really that much scholarship on the Book Mormon out

there? And the answer is yes. There's actually a lot of really excellent scholarship on the

book Mormon out there. It seems like it's growing every month to the point now, actually,

where it can be hard to keep up with it all. But there are riches to be found,

and we're going to share with you today four pieces that we have found to be very insightful
