Summary
We're back with a new episode on New Media! To begin, we revisit Print Culture, Critical Archival Studies and the work of Canadian theorist Marshall McLuhan before jumping into a conversation about the phonograph! Well, kind of... We take a look at Lisa Gitelman’s book Always Already New: Media, History, and the Data of Culture, to better understand how new technologies are normalized and made familiar such that we forget information is being mediated at all. We talk about Potterwatch radio, Dumbledore's deluminator, horcruxes, patronuses and more while taking a very close look at Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to Witch Please, a fortnightly podcast about the Harry Potter world. |
| 0:15.9 | I'm Hannah McGregor, and I'm Marcel Cosmon, and much to my surprise, I am the one that |
| 0:23.0 | is responsible for coming up with topics for this episode's sorting chat, something I definitely |
| 0:30.9 | knew. I suggest we talk about fall treats, seasonal treats, seasonal treats we enjoy in the fall. |
| 0:42.4 | Okay, can I tell you Marcel that last week I tried a new genre of seasonal treat, which is |
| 0:52.8 | the apple crisp flavored syrup at Starbucks. I saw that on the menu. Yeah, I had an ice latte |
| 1:02.1 | because it was still last week. We were still having that like, you know, very warm late summer |
| 1:06.6 | weather and Vancouver. I didn't want anything hot yet, but you know, new seasonal drinks. |
| 1:11.9 | Ooh, we've got to try a new seasonal drink. And the PSL syrup is not vegan from what I understand. |
| 1:18.7 | It's got condensed milk, and that's interesting. I mean, that makes sense because pump can |
| 1:23.2 | pie often involves has condensed milk in it. Sure, still sucks, but yeah. It's okay. It's not the |
| 1:29.6 | biggest problem I have to say. So they have this like, oh, milk muckyato apple crisp, something, |
| 1:38.6 | something. And I was like, yeah, yeah, let's give it a try. And I got to say, no, coffee should not |
| 1:46.7 | taste like apple crisp. It's weird. It's weird and bad. I mean, I drink the whole |
| 1:52.8 | venti ice latte, obviously. I'm not a monster. So that doesn't surprise me because I find artificial |
| 2:03.0 | apple flavor very unreliable, especially. And I know that I know that this is a different seasonal |
| 2:11.6 | treat, but especially green apple right up there with banana flavored shit for me, where I would |
| 2:17.5 | I would rather throw up in my mouth and drink that as a coffee. You're all welcome to say, I am |
| 2:26.4 | like personally offended by the existence of apple flavored bubbly. Shouldn't exist. Sorry, |
| 2:31.6 | wait, bubbly. What's buble? Oh, Michael, buble. Apple flavored Michael, buble. Yeah. And so it was, |
| 2:38.2 | I think brave of me to try an apple flavor at Starbucks. Yeah. I'm a hero for the ages. |
| 2:45.5 | And I say, no, thank you to that. Hannah, I want to personally on behalf of everyone who loves |
