Tonight we're here to talk to you a little bit about Giants Cutdown Day, the initial 53-man roster, plus a trade the Giants made to acquire another former top 45 pick. The first one, Isaiah Sim, was actually way higher than top 45. And I do apologize a little bit for coming to you a little bit later, but I had a busy work day headed into the city for NFL's CBS kickoff day, which was a lot of fun. I got to meet Boomer Sison today, Nick. And I got to tell you, he is a very

cool guy, a few other guys as well. And the most fun part about the day actually wasn't talking to Boomer, which was amazing. And he told me a really funny story about Frank Reich as well as me giving him credit for Josh Allen, because back in 2020, I'd actually met Boomer. So I didn't really meet him today, but I had a conversation with him today, like one-on-one. That was kind of more of a

And he called Josh Allen as a breakout before Josh Allen's breakout season.

So I had to credit him for that.

But the coolest thing actually was, actually, I don't know if I could say the coolest

thing on there.

I'll tell you this off-air, Nick, something very fun that had to do with NFL game film that I got to say. So it was very good, very fun,

good day. And now I'm back to talk Giants football with you, Nick. And I want to start with what I would consider to be the biggest news of the day. And that would be the Giants trading for Carlos Boogie Basham, the linebacker slash edge slash defensive lineman. I think he's going to play a multitude of roles. It's a similar trade.

They assume they won in the sense that one.

They traded for a player who can fill a multiple roles on the defense and is a positionless player, something Wick Martindale prioritizes two. They traded for a top 45, a former top 45 pick. And three, which I don't think everybody knows, Nick, and I was a little bit surprised

to see. They traded for a former elite athlete, at least from a testing standpoint. So Carlos

Bucky Basham at the Combine had a 9.38 relative athletic score. He tested elite from a speed

standpoint with a 46240 at 274 pounds, a 10 yard split of 16 163, a 20-yard split of 2.7, Elite, Elite, a short-shuttled that was elite, a three-cone that was great, not borderline, not elite, but great. Vertical and broad jumps, which were also really good for his size and for his build. So this is kind of another bet by the Giants. Again, Nick, relatively low risk. They trade. They swap future picks and all the way in 2025, which by the way, we don't even know. It's a chance that the Giants pick could be better than the Bill's pick in 2025. Who knows? But they've swapped future picks. I'm sure there's some kind of, you know, stipulation you can go over that I might have missed on that. But they swap future picks, trade for a top 50, former top 50 pick, big athletic score, positionless player who they believe can be a better fit for their defense than he was with the bills. So I'm a big fan of this trade, obviously, as I was, the Simmons trade, Nick. That's just my kind of trade. It's a very low risk, high reward, upside type of deals.

So again, very excited. What were your initial thoughts on this deal? I love the deal, but I have to make one correction, Dan. He was selected 61st overall. So he's not a top 45. But 61st is still high. It's a second round pick. And Dan, we talked about Boogie Basham on the podcast. I'll say this. I went through a bunch of his film and there's going to be a piece up on big blue view if anybody wants to go and check it out i didn't see

that speed necessarily translate and i did think he was a little bit of a i don't want to say a hot

and cold player because the hustle was always there but there were times throughout his tape where

he just kind of wasn't really doing anything and he didn't really see him. Despite that, I did see someone who was hustling

a lot. I don't think he's overly explosive as an edge rusher. He is prompt with his hand
