And I want to start today with the story of Platform University because we want to talk about in this episode why building a platform is incredibly important in 2021 and how you can get started doing that very thing.

We're going to help you do that in this episode. So back in 2012 I wrote a book that became a New York Times bestseller

called Platform Get Notice in a noisy world.

I was suddenly overwhelmed when that book at the bestseller list with all these requests for people to try to get me to help them build an online platform like I had done for myself. The only problem was I

didn't scale. I was quickly out of hours in the day. So my friend Stu McLaren came to

me and he said he said I think I've got a way for you to scale this message

and help more people in a way that doesn't burn you out.

And I thought, man, I'm all ears.

So as he began to explain this whole concept of a membership site, we decided together that we were going to launch Platform University and we did that in 2013.

We've now had tens of thousands of people go through Platform University with some

amazing success stories. But during this time, our business began to shift a little bit.

We got more into personal development,

professional development, goal achievement, productivity, business coaching, and

some of those other things. We hired a dean for platform university, John Meese, he came in, but we said it needs even more focus.

So we made the decision earlier this year to sell Platform University, and we sold it to our special guest today, Pete Fargis, who's

the founder and the CEO of Advance Your Reach. He's become a dear friend and he's

somebody who is in total alignment with what we set out to do and he's the perfect

person to take it to the next level.
