podcast today. Vincent Bevins. Vincent is a journalist and author. His most recent book is If We

Burn about protest movements in the 2010s and why they didn't do the things that we would

have liked them to do. And he's also the author of a new feature article for the nation,

titled The Power and Symbolism of Brazil's Landless Workers Movement. And we've invited

him to talk to us about that. We'd also just like to start a little bit with maybe talking

about how Vincent understands the lay of the land and what is going on in this country of ours.

So Vincent, first of all, thank you for joining us again. Yeah, thank you for having me back.

So, Vincent, you're someone who's had experience in authoritarian regimes. You've lived around the

world. You have a political experience that expands well beyond the United States. So maybe just the

first question I'd like to ask you is,

how are you understanding Trump? What do you think he's doing? How does he fit into this global

insurgent far rights? And basically, like, what's your macro view on Trump and his behavior so
