The deadly impact of his mysterious ray smashed the famous tower bridge, hurling cars and pedestrians into the river below.

Last week we heard the Man of steel battle the yellow mask and save the town of

direville from a catastrophic flood. Today our story opens in the offices of the

daily planet as Clark Kent is assigned to investigate

the mysterious and suddenly reclusive behavior of a celebrated scientist and explorer.

Kent accompanies the man's daughter to his remote mansion,

where they discover savage dogs and electrified fence,

a giant, and an ancient secret that some will kill to protect.

None of our regular supporting characters are back this week.

Lois Lane probably needed some time off after that trip to Dyerville, but Perry White is absent from the newsroom.

In his place we have Jay Hamlin, the assistant editor of the paper.

He's a family friend of Dr. Beecham, the missing scientist,

and his daughter Elsie.

And Hamlin gives Kent the assignment

to help Elsie investigate.

Ned Weaver plays Dr. Beecham,

and I think we've heard him every week since this series started

in one role or another.
