True to his threat, the mad scientist, whose warnings have held the city in a grip of terror,

Last Friday we kicked things off with the episodes that brought the man of steel to radio, the journey from Krypton to Earth, meeting Lois Lane in Perry White and his first battles against the Wolf and the Yellow Mask.

Today our story picks up with Clark Kent racing to a fire in downtown Metropolis where a woman is trapped on the 20th floor of a burning building.

Superman saves the day, but when he hears the woman's story, it sets him off on a new and exciting adventure. The woman is the

only witness who can implicate a pair of crooks and a mine swindle and when

they learn she's still alive, the dastardly duo plots another attempt on her life.

Now, the stakes are a little bit lower, after last week's railroad sabotage and the threat to blow up the daily planet,

but this is still a great serial, one that starts in Metropolis and then goes to a steam ship at sea,

and finally to the mountains where our heroes have to survive a dangerous

flight through an ice storm.

There's no Lois Lane this time around except for a brief appearance at the start of the first episode, but

Julian Noah is back as Perry White.

We'll also hear Marion Shockley as June Anderson, the woman whose rescue kicks off the story.

Ned Weaver, who we heard last week as The Wolf, returns, this time as another villain.

His partner in crime is Santo Ortega. this time as another villain.

His partner in crime is Santo Sortega,

an actor who could often be heard on the right side of the law.

He played Nero Wolf, Charlie Chan, Inspector Queen on Ellery Queen, and Commissioner Weston on the Shadow.
