True to his threat, the mad scientist, whose warnings have held the city in a grip of terror,

went on his rampage of destruction on the stroke of midnight.

The deadly impact of his mysterious ray smashed the famous tower bridge, hurling cars and pedestrians into the river below.

The police have warned everyone to remain in their homes.

This looks like a job for Superman. Hello and welcome to this week's bonus episode of Down These Mean Streets, another

installment in our Superman Summer Series.

Last week, Superman teamed up with Frank Lovejoy

to catch the swindlers at the North Star Mine.

Today, we have a return appearance from the villains who battled the man of steel in the

show's first episodes, The Wolf and the Yellow Mask.

You may recall that Clark Ken's first assignment at the Daily Planet

had him investigating railroad sabotage in the West, a plot by the Wolf.

When Superman captured him, the Wolf's boss, the mysterious menace known as the

Yellow Mask, retaliated by attempting to blow up the daily planet. Superman saved

the day and rescued Lois Lane after she fell from the

villains plane, but the mask got away. Today we catch up with the wolf and his

henchman Kino. They're both prisoners in the new

San Miguel penitentiary. The evildoers are plotting a prison break on the same

day that Lois Lane is on the scene doing a human interest story about the new prison.

It's the exciting beginning to Superman's latest adventure,

a story that takes Clark and Lois to Dyerville, a small town that's been plagued by a series of unusual disasters.

Could these occurrences be connected to the wolf and the yellow mask, only the man of steel has a chance of solving the mystery and saving the day.
