0:13.2	And it's great to catch up again as we look back at 2023.
0:19.4	And the Negro League Baseball Museum's annual salute to the Negro Leagues with our friends over at the Kansas City Royals.
0:27.8	Last year's salute involved the Houston Astros and our friend Dusty Baker, aka the Houston Eagles against the Kansas City Monarchs in a classic
0:41.4	throwback game.
0:42.5	Well, part of the celebration also included a look back at the history of the African American
0:52.1	pitcher.
0:54.0	It coincided with an exhibit that we did to celebrate and commemorate the 75th anniversary
1:01.0	of Satchel Pages joining Cleveland in 1948 and helping Cleveland win the World Series.
1:09.8	It was part of a larger exhibition
1:13.2	dedicated to Mudcat Grants Group known as the Black Aces.
1:19.0	And as we typically do,
1:21.9	we oftentimes bring in authors and others
1:26.5	to create discussion platforms in and around the exhibit content.
1:32.4	And so we were really excited to bring in two tremendous authors for a discussion on our
1:41.4	salute to the Negro Leagues. Day started here at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum early morning.
1:47.7	The first discussion involved a tremendous writer by the name of Sridor Papu, who wrote the book, The Year of the Pitcher.
1:58.1	The book examines what was happening in 1968, and many of you may be aware that
2:06.0	this country was in great turmoil in 1968. But at the same time, there were some amazing
2:12.8	feats that were occurring in our national pastime at the Major League level,
2:19.4	including Bob Gibson's ridiculous 1.12 ERA that year.
